The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “Verily, Allah has His own people among humanity.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, who are they?” The Prophet said, “They are the people of Qur’an – the people of Allah and his chosen ones.” (Ibn Majah)

Our Director

Muhammad Lo, School Director

“The school project is an ambitious initiative born from the desire to provide education to poor children and orphans. Education is the only way to ennoble a person and allow him or her to have possibilities to serve society and establish their own place. Motivated by the value of teaching the Qur’an and the religious sciences, the leaders of the Madrassatul Khayri school have undertaken to invest in the education of children. While bringing a touch of modernity to children’s learning, the school offers additional training programs in the field of market gardening, breeding, baking and sports.

One of the aspects that directly engaged my enthusiasm is the concept of a modernized religious school that at the same time offers training in different trades. Children are always excited about growing seeds, pets, and little crafts. They end up developing passions that later guide them in life.
If you want to enslave a person and chain his or her mind into addiction, then deny them access to education. But if you give them the chance to read and write and use their mind and their hands, you give them the key to life. With our school, we hope that each child will discover and open up to life on their own.”

Our teachers

Our most experienced teacher is Elhadji Abibou Sall, born in 1968 from a very noble family of Qur’an reciters. His 5th great grandfather, Omar Eliban Sall, spread Islam in many countries, all over Africa.
He memorized the Qur’an at a young age and began teaching in 1989. He has never charged a fee for teaching Qur’an but he was able to start his own school in 2008. In 2019, a generous family from Singapore bought the house he was renting and made it waqf (charitable foundation) for the purpose of memorizing the Qur’an.
Since he started teaching the Qur’an, Shaykh Elhadji Abibou Sall has built relationships with people in the whole of Senegal. He has made a noble and pure intention to help disadvantaged families by supporting their children’s education but without the contributions of donors, his ability to do so is limited. You can support our beloved teacher to help many vulnerable children receive a full education including Quranic studies, agriculture, bakery, and other professional skills.

Our teachers Omar Khayri, Usman Seck and Babacar Nyane have been working at the school for two years, one year and one month respectively. What makes Madrassatul Khayri special to them is the peace it gives them, as well as its loving and caring environment. Their dream is for the school to become a university one day, offering the possibility to learn Allah’s Holy Book alongside other subjects to many, many students from anywhere in the world.

The Madrassatul Khayri team and its supporters work hard every day to make this dream come true, but our donors play an essential role – help us transform our school into a center for knowledge that will benefit hundreds, thousands, millions, in sha Allah!
